
Deene Park has been the home of the Brudenell family since Tudor times.
Famous members of the family include: Edmund Brudenell who was made a peer
by Charles Stuart, subsequently imprisoned in the Tower of London during
the Commonwealth, and finally created Earl of Cardigan by Charles II; and,
the seventh earl was the Lord Cardigan of Balaclava and made famous by
the incident of the Charge of the Light Brigade during the Crimean War.
